Abstract

ABSTRACT Field experiments was conducted to determine the Effects of Citrus Extract on Management of Foliage Insect on Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.). During 2022 raining season at the Teaching and Research Farm of the Department of Agricultural Technology, Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri, Borno State The treatments consisted of four (4) different treatments (T1 is 5g, T2 is 10g, T3 is 15g of citrus powder and T4 is control with no treatment), replicated three times; Data collected were subjected to analysis of variance. The result showed that there was no significant difference among the treatment on plant height of 2 WAS, the highest plant height was recorded under 15ml and 10ml, at 4 WAS the highest plant height was recorded under 15ml and 10ml, at WAS the highest plant height was recorded under 15ml, 10ml and 5ml, while the least was recorded on control 0.0ml. It also reveals that there were no significant difference among the treatment on number of damaged leaves at 2 and 6 WAS. At 4 WAS the highest number of damaged leaves was recorded under 15ml and 10ml, while the least was recorded on control 0.0ml. It can be concluded that citrus extract at the rate of 15ml appeared to given optimum management of foliage insect on Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) in Maiduguri. Based on the result, it is therefore recommended that, Citrus extract at the rate of 15ml can be used in management of foliage insect on okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) and also farmers should adopt using citrus extract in management of foliage insects on okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.), while further studies is recommended.
