EVALUATION OF HISTOPATHOLOGICAL AND IMMUNOREACTIVITY PATTERN OF P53 PROTEIN ON THE OVARY OF ALBINO RATS EXPOSED TO CAR EMULSION PAINT.
Abstract
Abstract
The availability of automobile workshops in our society has predisposed us to the dangers of inhaling the fumes from car paints. Cars are being painted and repainted, and this puts the workers at a higher risk of been predisposed. This study was carried out to investigate the histomorphological and immunoreactivity pattern of P53 protein in the ovary of an albino rat in Madonna University Teaching Hospital (MUTH), Elele, Rivers State, to ascertain if there is a level of toxicity to the kidney. The study consists of 16 albino rats which were divided into two groups of eight animals each. All animals were allowed to food and water throughout the period of the experiment. All experimental protocols were observed under strict supervision, the experiment lasted for 30 days, and animals were exposed by inhalation using locally constructed equipment. On obtaining the samples it was stained using Haematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) to demonstrate general tissue structure. Immunohistochemistry for p53 was carried out using the avidi-biotin method. Tissues sectioned was examined and interpreted using Leica DM 750 binocular microscope with photomicrographic facilities and then photomicrographed by a histopathologist. A deduction can be made from the study that there is no significant change in the ovary tissue of the albino rat compared to the control, in that the test ovarian tissue was consistent with the normal morphology. In conclusion, from this study, after 30days of exposure to car paint fumes, there is no significant change in the ovary tissue of the female albino rat compared with the control, that means the ovary histology was consistent with the normal histology.
