MINEROLOGY OF THE OGWASHI-ASABA FORMATION
Abstract
This research aimed to investigate the mineralogy of the Ogwashi-Asaba Formation in Nigeria. The formation is composed of kaolinite, quartz, and feldspar, with kaolinite being the most abundant mineral. The presence of these minerals can provide insight into the formation and evolution of the region. The findings of this study have implications for our understanding of geology of the region. The mineralogical analysis revealed that the kaolinite in the Ogwashi-Asaba formation has a range of grain sizes, from very fine to relatively coarse. This suggests that the kaolinite has undergone various weathering processes over time. In addition, the presence of quartz and feldspar indicates that the formation has been subject to multiple cycles of sedimentation and erosion. The results of this study have provided valuable insights into the mineralogy and geologic history of the Ogwashi-Asaba formation. This information can help to inform future research on the region and provide a better understanding of its geologic evolution. This research has contributed to our understanding of the geology of Nigeria and may have implications for future mineral exploration in the region.
