Abstract

Automation is the new industrial revolution as it’s been applied in various engineering and non-engineering fields. Inspection and sorting which is one important part of production was done manually before the advent of automation, humans were in charge of these processes it was a tedious task and was ineffective, and humans were easily distracted and got tired when doing the same task repeatedly. It entails the development of automatic sorting machines using height variation as the sorting criteria, using an Arduino microcontroller as the Micro-controller, ultrasonic sensors as the input to return the various height sensed, and servo motor as the actuators to realize the push mechanism. The sorting machine developed was able to sort different items based on their height variation.
