Abstract

The rapid growth of information technology and the increasing demand for programming skills have highlighted the need for more effective and personalized methods of teaching programming. Traditional classroom-based approaches often fail to adequately address individual learning differences, provide timely feedback, and support self-paced learning. This project focuses on the design and implementation of an Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) for programming, aimed at enhancing learning outcomes through personalized and adaptive instruction. The proposed system is a web-based platform that leverages artificial intelligence concepts to simulate the role of a human tutor by providing interactive lessons, guided learning, and immediate feedback to learners. The system is designed to support core programming concepts, enabling users to learn at their own pace while receiving tailored assistance based on their interactions and performance. System analysis was conducted to identify the limitations of the existing teaching methods, and a new system architecture was developed to address these shortcomings. The system was designed using a structured system development approach, incorporating user-friendly interfaces, secure login mechanisms, and organized instructional content. Implementation was carried out using appropriate programming tools and technologies, followed by thorough system testing to ensure functionality, reliability, and usability. The results indicate that the Intelligent Tutoring System provides an improved learning experience, enhances learner engagement, and supports effective knowledge acquisition in programming. The study concludes that Intelligent Tutoring Systems can significantly complement conventional teaching methods and recommends further enhancement of adaptive features and content expansion in future implementations.
