Abstract

This study is designed to evaluate the effect of kolaviron on heme oxygenase and JAK/STAT signaling in bifenthrin induced testicular toxicity in wistar rats. Thirty-five (35) rats from the pool of forty (40) rats induced with BPH were arbitrarily divided into five (5) sample groups (groups 2-6) consisting of seven (7) rats each, whereas seven rats (non-induced) constituted group one. Group one(normal control): 0.5m of vehicle (Tween 80 + Canola Oil in the ratio 1:10). Group II: 5Smg/kg body weight testosterone + 0.5ml of vehicle. Group lll: 5Smg/kg body weight testosterone + 150mg/kg body weight kolaviron .Group IV: 5mg/kg body weight testosterone + 15mg/kg body weight quercetin. Group V: 5mg/kg body weight testosterone + |50mg/kg body weight kolaviron + 15mg/kg body weight quercetin. Group VI: Smg/kg body weight testosterone +5mg/70kg body weight Finasteride. After twenty eight days of treatment with placebo, kolaviron and quercetin, and Finasteride, the treatments were withdrawn, and twenty four hours after the last dose administration and after a twelve hour fast, all animals were sacrificed under chloroform anaesthesia. The result displayed a positive restoration in testicular catalase activity, testicular GPS activity, testicular GSH level, testicular NF-KB activity, testicular GST activity.
