PROPOSED CINEMA HOUSE FOR IDAH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA KOGI STATE, NIGERIA

The absence of a modern movie cinema within Federal Polytechnic Idah, Kogi State, and its environs has been a major challenge to students, staff, and the surrounding community over the years, as there has been no defined structure (cinema hall) put in place to cater for leisure, entertainment, cultural development, and academic-related film productions. As a result, students and residents often travel long distances to Lokoja or neighboring states to access cinema facilities, which creates both financial and social limitations. Although there are no cinema halls or standard entertainment centers within the polytechnic community or the local government to meet the increasing demand for recreation, education, and storytelling, people continue to seek avenues for entertainment and relaxation. This design report is aimed at establishing a standard movie cinema within the Federal Polytechnic Idah, Kogi State, which is meant to serve both the academic community and surrounding neighbor hoods, with good access roads leading to the institution. Feasibility studies have been carried out by examining existing cinema facilities in other locations, taking note of some standard case studies, and finally proposing a well-designed, functional, and modern cinema that will adequately serve the Federal Polytechnic Idah community. The study contains a detailed analysis of the site where the proposed cinema is to be located, alongside a comprehensive design of the facility, taking into account the functional, spatial, and structural requirements of a modern movie cinema.
