Abstract

ABSTRACT The Study Was Conducted To Asses “Growth Performance Of Weaners Rabbit (Oryctalaguscuniculus) Fed Graded Level of fed dietry inclusion of (dry discarded cabbage in) in Semi-arid-zone of Nigeria”. The experiment was carried out at Ramat Polytechnic Livestock teaching and research farm ruminant unit, Maiduguri Borno state of Nigeria. The Result Value Reveled For Growth Performance of Final Weight, Feed Intake, Feed Conversion Ratio, Protein Efficiency Ratio Show Significance Difference (P0.05) Difference amongthe Treatment Group. The experiment revealed that the feed intake in T1, T2, T3 T4 and T5 were 573.13, 564.53, 560.67, 568.00, and 568.67respectively and the final weight T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5 were 1113.5, 1154.10, 1394.6, 1204.0 and 1172.6kg respectively. This result shows that ram in T3 have god feed conversion efficiency compared to other treatment. It also found that feeding monkey bread at 10% level inclusion level has no adverse effect to rams. The animals were randomly allocated to Five treatment (T1,T2,T3, T4and T5) one animal per replicate and monkey bread meal were feed at 0%, 5%, 10% 15% and 20 level of inclusion in the five treatment diets. The study of dry discarded cabbage shows that the legumes has good potential for feeding mini livestock’s. (45) Waspurchase at community household small scale within Maiduguri, Borno state, The rabbit were weighted at the beginning of the experimental period with a weighing balance from the research carried out 10% dry discarded cabbage is recommended for the high performance of weaners rabbit followed by 5% further investigation should be carried out on dry cabbage and other crop residues in mini-livestock This research work concluded that feeding weanerswith dry discarded cabbageup to 10% inclusion level can increase feed intake due to it palatability and absent of toxicity. Therefore feeding rams with dry discarded cabbage give optimum performance.
