VIRTUAL PROTOTYPING AND PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF A PROCESS SYSTEM FOR CONVERTING PLASTIC SOLID WASTE TO FLOOR TILES
Abstract
This project focuses on the design and performance analysis of a process system for converting
plastic waste into interlocking tiles, using High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) as the primary
material. A digital blueprint of the system was designed, followed by simulations and
computational methods to optimize key parameters such as injection pressure, cooling time, and
material flow. Prototyping and animation were employed to assess the system’s fabricability and
usability, validating the design without the need for physical fabrication. The results confirmed the
scalability and efficiency of the system, which offers a sustainable solution for managing plastic
waste by transforming it into eco-friendly construction materials. This research contributes to the
field of sustainable manufacturing, demonstrating a circular economy approach for plastic waste
management.
