Abstract

The increasing demand for reliable and sustainable energy solutions has led to the development of alternative power systems such as solar-powered inverters. This project focuses on the design and construction of a 1.5kVA, 12V pure sine wave solar-powered inverter with an integrated surge protection system. The system is designed to convert direct current (DC) from solar panels and batteries into high-quality alternating current (AC) suitable for powering household and sensitive electronic devices. The inverter utilizes a pure sine wave generation technique to ensure compatibility with modern appliances, reduce harmonic distortion, and improve overall efficiency. A battery storage unit is incorporated to provide uninterrupted power supply during periods of low solar radiation or nighttime operation. Additionally, a surge protection mechanism is implemented to safeguard the inverter and connected loads from voltage spikes, overloads, and transient disturbances. The design process involves component selection, circuit design, simulation, and practical implementation. Key components include a DC-DC converter, oscillator circuit, switching devices, transformer, and control circuitry. The system is tested under various load conditions to evaluate performance, efficiency, and reliability. The results demonstrate that the constructed inverter delivers stable output voltage with minimal distortion and effectively protects connected devices from electrical surges. This project provides a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for power generation, particularly in areas with unstable grid supply, and contributes to the advancement of renewable energy technologies.
