Abstract
ABSTRACT Thisresearchprojectaimedtothe“Isolati onofoilindicati Metropolis”.Soi ngbacteriafromDamaturu lsampleswerecollectedatMechanicworkshopsintwodifferent locati ons.AbbaIbrahim housingestate(Motorcyclegarage)andNasarawanear ministryofhealth(Vehiclegarage)DamaturuYobeState.Bacterialisolationand characteri zationwereconductedusingstandardmicrobiologicaltestandbiochemical test.Thesebacteriawereinoculatedinpretroleum inordertoseetheiroilutilizi ng capabili ty.Bothpositi veandnegativewereobservedfromsamplescollectedfromtwo locati ons.Gram negativerodshowingGreenishpigmentcoloniesonagarplate (Pseudomonasspp).wereisolatedfromsoilofmotorcyclegarageandGrampositive coccishowinggoldenyellowcolorcoloniesonagarplate(Staphylococcusspp).were isolatedfromsoilofvehi clegarage.Morphologicalcharacteri sticsofisol atedbacteria andbiochemicaltestsfurtherconfirmedthepresenceofPseudomonasspp.and Staphylococcusspp.Thesuccessfulisolati onofbacteriafromoil-contaminatedsites inDamaturumetropolisisaclearindicatorofnaturalmicrobialadaptation to anthropogenicpoll ution.
