DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF 7.5 KVA SOLAR POWER SYSTEM IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING
Abstract
This project entitled “Design and Installation of 7.5KVA solar power system” is aimed at designing and installing a 7.5KVA (6KW) solar power system to the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. This is achieved by using a hybrid connected 2.8KW monocrystalline photovoltaic modules to convert the photon energy of the sunlight by radiation to direct current (DC) and it is used to charge a series connected 84V, 220Ah (10.56KWh) Lead Acid tubular battery bank. The battery is a charge storage device that is charged by a 48V, 60A MPPT solar charge controller by means of 134.4V, 20.84A DC output from the panel through 6.0mm2, 2-core copper cable, then a 7.5KVA, 48V pure sine wave inverter converts the DC output from the battery bank to alternating current (AC) through 10.0mm2, 2-core copper cable giving AC output of 220V, 230A, 50Hz through a single phase supply to the department
