Abstract

This project presents the design and implementation of an IoT-based health monitoring system developed to support early detection of cardiovascular and reproductive-health risks among Nigerian men and women. The system integrates biomedical sensors, an ESP32 microcontroller, and a Django-based web application to monitor vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, and menstrual-cycle patterns. Sensor readings are processed by the hardware, transmitted to the server in JSON format, and classified using globally recognized medical standards, including WHO regulations for hypotension and hypertension. The web application provides real-time access to health data through manual dashboard refresh, alongside a dedicated doctor’s portal for remote monitoring. During implementation and testing, the system successfully achieved its objectives. The system was successfully able to track and record menstrual cycle, detects the various stages of hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases, able to generate life saving health tips if something is wrong and its also able to alert the doctor that is being assigned to the a patient in the case of a medical crises to provide medical assistance via WhatsApp or phone call. This project concludes that a reliable, low-cost, and user-friendly approach to health monitoring, particularly valuable in regions with limited healthcare access can effectively mitigate the dangers of diseases cause by irregularities in menstrual cycle and also help save lives from the dangers of cardiovascular diseases
