THE DYNAMIC OF BIO-MOS® AS DIETARY ADDITIVE ON GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF FINISHER BROILERS.
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study was conducted to evaluate the growth performance effects of the feed additive Mannan oligosaccharide (MOS) in broiler chicken diets. BIO-MOS® is a trade name for a brand of MOS that is commercially available. MOS are obtained from the outer cell wall of saccharomyces cerevisiae.
MOS are among widely searched class of feed additives used in boiler chicken diets as prebiotic. A total of 60- four weeks old broiler chickens were used for the experimental period of 28 days. Two treatment groups ‘A’ and ‘B’ were created with each containing 30 birds. Each treatment group was replicated thrice with each replicate containing ten birds. The initial weight of the birds was recorded per replicate. At weekly intervals the lives body weight (LBW) of the broiler was measured and recorded per replicate after a 12 hour feed withdrawal. The difference between the initial LBW and final LBW became the live weight gain. At the end of the experiment, the dietary additive, BIO-MOS® was able to improve significantly (P
