IMPROVEMENT OF THE 5KVA/48V MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SOLAR POWER SYSTEM
Abstract
This study aimed at improving the existing Mechanical engineering 5KVA/48V solar system.A comprehensive system audit was done to identify the root causes and implement necessary improvements to enhance the system’s performance. System evaluation for all Mechanical Engineering offices was done and the improvement was carried out which resulted in increase in power output from 2.480KVA to 5.180kVA, represents an improvement in system performance. This enhancement can be attributed to the addition of six new solar panels (2,700W), which increased the total installed capacity from 2480W to 5180W and also increased the charging peak for the 48V from 54.6V to 56.2V. The upgraded system's ability to harness more solar energy resulted in a significant boost to power output.
