Abstract

ABSTRACT This project involves the design and development of a PDF-to-Audio system. In this digital era, the widespread use of PDF documents poses significant accessibility challenges for individuals with visual impairments, reading difficulties, or learning disabilities. Existing Text-to-Speech (TTS) solutions are often costly, lack customization, and struggle with complex PDF structures, resulting in incoherent audio output. This project addresses this critical gap by developing a specialized, user-friendly PDF-to-audio conversion system. Its primary aim is to transform written PDF text into high-quality, natural-sounding audio using advanced TTS technology. The methodology employs a modular and iterative software development approach. Python, PyMuPDF for text extraction, googletrans for translation, and EdgeTTS for speech synthesis are key technologies. A Tkinter-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) enables seamless interaction, voice customization, and adjustable reading speeds. The system incorporates robust error handling and asynchronous operations for responsiveness. The implementation successfully converts diverse PDF documents into audio, providing real-time feedback and supporting multiple languages. Testing confirmed the system's stability, usability, and reliability across various scenarios. This converter significantly enhances accessibility for visually impaired users and auditory learners. It also promotes multilingual education and offers a convenient tool for productivity, fostering digital inclusion for all.
