Abstract

ABSTRACT Split unit air conditioning system is an air conditioning system with the indoor and the outdoor umit being separated from each other. The indour unit also called evaporator is responsible for the cooling. This is achieved with the help of the evaporator coil and the evaporator fan which help to circulate the cold air around the conditioned space. As the refrigerant flows through the evaporator coil, the evaporator helps it to absorb heat from the space to be cooled. In most cases, a bent in the evaporator coil will result in a liquid line restriction which will obstruct the flow of refrigerant along the evaporator coil. A restricted liquid line will starve the evaporator of refrigerant, thus causing low pressures in the evaporator. If the evaporstor is sarved of refrigerant, the compressor and condenser will also be starved. The evaporator will not be absorbing very much heat for the condenser to reject.
