Abstract

This study focuses on the generation of biogas using coral organic waste and cow dung through anaerobic digestion. The aim of the research was to design, fabricate, and test a simple bio-digester for the production of biogas using locally available materials. A 20‑litre paint container was used as the digestion chamber, while coral organic waste and cow dung served as the primary feedstock materials. The feedstock materials were mixed with water and allowed to undergo anaerobic digestion for a period of seven days. During the digestion process, parameters such as temperature and pH were monitored to ensure optimal conditions for microbial activity. The results obtained showed a gradual increase in the volume of biogas produced from day one to seven, indicating successful fermentation and gas production. The study demonstrates that coral organic waste combined with cow dung can serve as a viable feedstock for biogas production. The technology provides an environmentally friendly and cost‑effective renewable energy source that can help reduce dependence on fossil fuels and improve waste management in rural communities.
