Abstract

There is an increasing consideration of the importance of patient satisfaction in healthcare; however, little is known regarding the experiences of orthopaedic patients. There is limited information regarding patients’ fears and appreciation in the perioperative setting. Globally, there has been an increase in the assessment of patient satisfaction, and various steps have been taken to improve the quality of healthcare provision in health institutions. However, there is little evidence about the perioperative experiences of orthopaedic patients in Nigeria and, even more, the South West region. The purpose of this study is to investigate and describe the perioperative experiences, including the fears, concerns and appreciations of patients who have undergone orthopaedic surgeries.
