DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF WIRELESS ROBOTIC VIDEO TRANSMITTER
Abstract
Design and construction of a wireless robotic video transmitter is discussed in this work.
The proposed robot can be used both in
civilandmilitaryfields.Thedesignandplacementofvarioussensors,wheelsystem, mechanicalar
msaswellaswirelesscommunication mechanism and remote controlling mechanism are
discussed here in details. The coordination of its variousparts to perform different jobs is
also discussed. The movement of the proposed robot can be controlled wirelessly either
fromthe control unit within its transmitter's range or from a GSM cellular mobile from
any distance where corresponding mobilenetwork is available. After constructing the
robot, it was tested in indoor and outdoor and found working well. For civil use, itcan be
used in detecting gas leak in home or industry, surveillance of shopping mall, parking lot,
office, industry, bank, museum etc., helping rescue operation during natural disaster and
aftermath as well as supplying food or other essentials to thepeople under unreachable
ruin where human access is difficult or risky. The required information is based on the
input obtained from a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) with battery of 12v. As the first step
toward achieving the goal, it is necessary to have a mobile robot for the detection of
motion of any-thing, any gas leakages and the presence of heat in that particular
unstructured environment. REMOTEC is now commercializing the SURBOT technology
on wheeled mobile robot for used in places such as nuclear power plants, atomic power
plants and other hazardous environments.
