Abstract

ABSTRACT This project presents the design and construction of a Dual DC Power Supply. It includes a fixed 12V Switched-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) and an adjustable 0–30V SMPS, designed for laboratory and electronics testing. The system overcomes the limitations of traditional power supplies by providing stable voltage regulation, efficient power conversion, and user-adjustable outputs while also being compact and cost-effective. The 12V SMPS uses a flyback converter topology with a UC3842 PWM controller for high-frequency switching. It achieves a no-load voltage of 12.17V, which shows a +1.47% deviation, and a loaded voltage of 11.80V, reflecting a 1.67% deviation under a 20W LED load. The 0–30V adjustable SMPS features an LM338 voltage regulator and LM358 op-amp for precise control of voltage and current. It shows less than a 2.5% voltage deviation across loads, such as 11.71V at 12V/20W, and less than a 5.3% variation in current. Both units were simulated in Proteus and validated through hardware testing, with outcomes closely aligning with theoretical expectations.
