Abstract

This study examined the impact of Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) on travel demand in Ibadan metropolis. Data were collected using questionnaires administered to road users. Findings revealed that GSM significantly influences travel demand by reducing unnecessary trips, improving travel time efficiency, and shaping mobility decisions. Regression and ANOVA results showed that cost of travel, purpose of travel, and traffic reduction are significant predictors of travel demand, explaining about 55% of variation.
