Abstract
ABSTRACT
Lipodystrophy syndromes are a group of genetic or acquired disorders in which the body is unable to produce and maintain healthy fat tissue. The medical condition is characterized by abnormal or degenerative conditions of the body's adipose tissue. (Phan J et. al 2015) A more specific term, lipoatrophy (lipo is Greek for 'fat', and dystrophy is Greek for 'abnormal or degenerative condition'), is used when describing the loss of fat from one area (usually the face). This condition -is also characterized by a lack of circulating leptin which may lead to osteosclerosis. The absence of fat tissue is associated with insulin resistance, hypertriglyceridemia, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and metabolic syndrome. (Meral R et. al 2017)
Looking at the table above it is denoted that 52% of my respondents are within the age range of 30-50 while 30% of them are 51-60 and the remaining 18% of them are 61 above, which goes in line with the study carried out by Williams Robson and Felix. R where about 55% of their respondents are within the age range of 25-50 but very contrary to the research done by Davey G where about 80% of his respondents are over 60 years of age. According to the above table it is seen that about 68% of my respondents are Christian while 32% of them are muslims. In the table above it is denoted that 96% of my respondent attended and graduated from higher institution. The above table is telling us that 38% of my respondents are community health professional while 36% of them are nurses and 18% of them are other health workers and 8% of them are doctors. Looking into the table above it is denoted that 56% of my respondents are married while 38% of them are still single but 6% of them are divorced already.
