STUDY OF HYDROGEN ENERGY AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO FOSSIL FUEL
Abstract
This study investigates the potential of hydrogen energy as a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels in response to increasing environmental concerns and the depletion of conventional energy resources. The research examines various hydrogen production methods, including water electrolysis, steam methane reforming, and biomass conversion, with a focus on their efficiency, environmental impact, and feasibility. Additionally, the study explores hydrogen storage and transportation techniques, as well as its combustion properties and applications in energy systems.
Experimental and analytical methods were employed to evaluate the performance of hydrogen as an energy carrier. The findings reveal that hydrogen possesses a high energy content and produces minimal greenhouse gas emissions, making it an environmentally friendly option compared to fossil fuels. Hydrogen fuel cells demonstrated efficient and reliable energy output under varying conditions, while emissions analysis confirmed its potential to significantly reduce carbon dioxide and other harmful pollutants.
However, challenges such as high production costs, storage difficulties, and infrastructure limitations were identified as key barriers to widespread adoption. Despite these challenges, simulation and economic analysis indicate that with technological advancements and supportive policy frameworks, hydrogen energy can become a viable and competitive alternative in the global energy mix.
