Abstract

The rising incidence of antibiotic-resistant infections necessitates alternative antimicrobial agents. This study investigates the antimicrobial potential of Ricinus communis extracts against common wound and uropathogenic bacteria. Methanolic and ethanolic extracts were obtained from castor leaves using standard techniques. Efficacy was evaluated through Agar Well Diffusion, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC), and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) assays. The extracts were tested against pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. These organisms are increasingly prevalent in wound and urinary tract infections. The study aims to demonstrate castor leaf as a promising natural alternative to conventional antibiotics.
