Abstract

A comprehensive phytochemical profiling of the bulb extracts of Hymenocallis littoralis, focusing on key bioactive compounds was conducted. The analysis revealed the presence of significant quantities of alkaloids (2.865% ± 0.02), saponins (2.16% ± 0.04), and flavonoids (5.23% ± 0.12), suggesting the potential medicinal value of the bulb. Lower concentrations of oxalates (0.37% ± 0.01), phenols (0.00225% ± 0.00), tannins (0.00011% ± 0.00), and cyanogenic glycosides (0.00001% ± 0.00) were also detected. The presence of these phytochemicals underscores the potential of Hymenocallis littoralis as a source of therapeutic agents. Further investigation into the pharmacological properties and applications of these bioactive compounds is recommended.
