IMPACT OF EMPLOYEES MOTIVATION ON ORGANISATIONAL PRODUCTIVITY (A STUDY OF WEMA BANK PLC. GBAGI BRANCH, IBADAN, OYO STATE)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study examines the effect of employee motivation on organizational productivity, with a specific focus on Wema Bank Plc., Gbagi Branch, Ibadan. The primary objective was to investigate how both financial and non-financial incentives influence employee performance and how these motivational factors affect overall organizational output. Anchored in Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory and supported by relevant empirical evidence linking motivation to performance outcomes, the study investigates the influence of both financial and non-financial motivational strategies on employee efficiency and commitment. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing structured questionnaires distributed to a sample of 61 employees. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis. The methodology covered the study population, sampling techniques, and data collection procedures. Findings presented in Chapter Four indicate that while financial incentives remain the most favored motivational strategy, non-financial factors such as recognition and opportunities for career advancement also significantly contribute to employee motivation. The Pearson correlation results revealed a moderate positive relationship between employee motivation and organizational productivity. The study concludes that an effective and balanced motivational framework addressing both intrinsic and extrinsic needs is vital for enhancing employee performance and sustaining productivity.
