Abstract

ABSTRACT Oxyacetylene welding, commonly referred to as gas welding, is a process which relies on combustion of oxygen and acetylene. When mixed together in correct proportions within a hand-held.torch or blowpipe, a relatively hot flame is produced with a temperature of about 3,200 deg.C.meanwhile, The objective of this study is to discuss on the construction/fabrication of oxy-acetylene cylinder with using local content or material. A quasi experimental design was adopted whereby the researchers gave a preliminary design to the engenderer who developed the cylinder, base on professional experience before the eventual constrction of the gas cylinder. This project work throws light upon the ten basic equipment's/method's used for oxy-acetylene welding. The equipment's are: Oxygen Cylinder, Acetylene Cylinder, Welding Torch, Welding.Tip (Nozzle), Pressure Regulators, Hose and Hose Fittings, Goggles and Glasses, Gloves and Apron, Spark-Lighter, Key Set, Spanners and Filler Rod and Flux Material. A quasi experimental design was adopted whereby the researchers gave a preliminary design to the engenderer who developed the cylinder, base on professional experience {Mr. Ayodeji Oso}before the eventual construction of the gas cylinder. Acetylene cylinders are special. In conclusion Oxyacetylene-welding-tips show that thisis still one of the most useful processes capable of providing economical and successful solutions in many cases of production or repair. It is the first process to be considered when planning
