Abstract

ABSTRACT Schiff bases synthesized from the condensation of an amino compound with carbonyl compounds and their complexes exhibit a wide range of biological activities including antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral, antitumor and anticancer properties. Over the recent few years, these complexes have gained much attention because of their unique biological properties. Many reports are published on their applications in biological activities of these compounds. Development of a new chemotherapeutic Schiff bases and their metal complexes is now attracting the attention of medicinal chemists. This work focuses on synthesis of a Schiff base using a primary amine(propylamine) and a salicylaldehyde and its applications
