Abstract

This study investigates the physical and chemical properties of Biodiesel produced from moringa seed oil. The first set of parameters focuses on the intrinsic characteristics of the liquid, including its physical state, density, specific gravity, kinematic viscosity, flash point, pour point, cloud point, smoke point, and auto-ignition point. The liquid exhibits consistent properties across three different scenarios. In the second part of the study, biodiesel yield is experimentally determined under different catalysts, reaction times, and temperatures. The volume of oil used for each run is fixed at 25.00 ml. Catalysts such as Al2O3, MgO, NaOH, and KOH are employed individually, as well as in various combinations (Al2O3 + MgO) with different ratios. The results show varying yields of biodiesel, ranging from 56.48% to 96.52%, with NaOH yielding the highest and Al2O3 + MgO 70:30 resulting in the lowest biodiesel volume. These findings contribute valuable insights into the potential of the studied liquid for biodiesel production and offer guidance on catalyst selection and composition for optimizing biodiesel yield.
