Abstract

This study investigates the challenges, perceptions of support, and strategies for improvement among medical social workers at Dalhatu Araf Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia, Nigeria. Using a quantitative approach, data was gathered from 85 respondents to identify key challenges such as heavy workload, limited resources, and insufficient interdisciplinary collaboration. Findings reveal that these challenges significantly hinder the delivery of effective social work services. Despite mixed perceptions of role clarity and support received, respondents showed readiness to embrace strategies like increased training, enhanced collaboration, and improved resource allocation. The study concludes with recommendations aimed at strengthening support systems, clarifying roles, and promoting teamwork to optimize the impact of medical social workers in healthcare delivery.
