Abstract
Abstract
This study examines the availability and utilization of information resources for improved academic performance among Senior Secondary Three (SS3) students of Federal Government College, Ugwolawo. The purpose of the study is to determine the extent to which students have access to information resources such as textbooks, libraries, the internet, and other learning materials, and how effectively these resources are utilized to enhance academic achievement. The study also investigates the relationship between resource utilization and students’ academic performance.
A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population comprised all SS3 students of Federal Government College, Ugwolawo. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using simple percentages and mean scores to answer the research questions.
Findings from the study reveal that while some information resources are available in the school, their adequacy and utilization level vary among students. It was also observed that students who effectively utilize available information resources tend to perform better academically than those who do not. Challenges such as limited access to updated materials, inadequate library facilities, and lack of proper guidance were identified as factors affecting utilization.
