Abstract

This study investigates Influence of Online Media in Spreading Information about Disease Outbreaks in Ago Iwoye, focusing on how online platforms disseminate health information, the extent of reliance on these sources by residents, and the challenges they face in accessing and understanding such information. Grounded in Social Cognitive Theory and Diffusion of Innovation Theory, the research encompasses the population of Ago Iwoye, which stands at 61,312. A total of 372 respondents were surveyed, with sample size calculations provided by the Survey Monkey Sample Size Calculator and sampling achieved through a combination of simple random and stratified techniques. The study finds that while online media plays a significant role in information dissemination, residents experience difficulties with accessibility, complexity, and reliability of the content. Recommendations include enhancing digital literacy programs, simplifying health information online, strengthening local communication strategies, and pursuing further research on media adoption's impact in rural settings.
