Abstract

The study was carried out to determine the effect of Commercial Growth Promoter (Nufocare p), Breadnut leaf and Breadfruit leaf meal on performance characteristics and blood serum parameters of brown egg-type layers. Ninety (90) point of lay (20 weeks old) of Isa brown strain of layer were used for the experiment. The birds were weighed prior to the commencement of the experiment and randomly divided into five (5) treatments groups consisting of Three (3) replicates each with each having six (6) birds. The birds were managed in three tier cage and stocked at the rate of three (3) birds per cell with dimension 42cm × 42cm × 35cm.The experimental diets and treatment are as follows: Treatment 1: Control without the inclusion of test ingredients, Treatment 2: control diet + commercial growth promoter (1g/1kg of feed). Treatment 3 control diet + Breadnut leaf meal (6g/1kg of feed), Treatment 4: Control diet + Breadfruit leaf meal (6g/1kg of feed) and Treatment 5: Control diet + Breadnut leaf meal (3g/1kg of feed) + Breadfriut leaf meal (3g/1kg of feed). The experiment lasted for twelve (12) weeks. Data were collected on the performance characteristics and blood serum parameters. Two (2) birds were taken per treatments 5ml of blood were collected through the jugular vein into plain bottle derived of EDTA and stored in ice packs and was taken to the laboratory for serum analysis at 12 weeks of the experiment. Dietary treatment had significant (p
