Abstract

This study investigated the bacteriological safety and antibacterial efficacy of selected herbal medicines against Salmonella spp. Four herbal medicines (Khanzud Dawai, 7 Star, Alwilaya, and Al-fijir) were analyzed. Results showed bacterial contamination in all samples, ranging from 4.0 × 10⁷ to 8.6 × 10⁷ CFU/mL. Phytochemical screening revealed flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and steroids. Alwilaya showed the highest antibacterial activity, while Al-fijir showed none. The study concludes that although some herbal medicines have antibacterial properties, their high contamination poses serious health risks.
