DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A PROTOTYPE WEATHER INFORMATION SYSTEM USING DJANGO FRAMEWORK
Abstract
This project designs and implements a prototype weather information system using Django web framework to address limitations in existing weather platforms. The system integrates OpenWeatherMap APIs to provide current weather conditions, hourly forecasts, and 7-day predictions with intelligent caching and responsive design. Key features include geolocation services supporting city search and GPS coordinates, privacy-focused IP-based analytics, and glassmorphism UI design with Bootstrap 5. The implementation achieves 60% reduction in API calls through cache management and delivers average response times of 1.2 seconds with 65% cache hit rates. The system demonstrates professional development practices with comprehensive error handling, secure environment management, and deployment configurations for Railway, Vercel, and Heroku platforms. This project successfully bridges theoretical concepts with practical implementation, providing an effective solution for weather data access while maintaining user privacy.
