Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on workers’ performance in selected private organizations in Nigeria, with a focus on First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Damaturu Branch. The research aims to examine how ICT adoption influences employee productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness in performing daily tasks. A descriptive survey design was adopted, and data was collected from employees using structured questionnaires. The study found that ICT significantly enhances workers’ performance by improving communication, reducing task completion time, and facilitating accurate and timely decision-making. However, challenges such as inadequate training, limited access to modern ICT tools, and occasional system failures were identified as constraints affecting performance. The study concludes that proper training, investment in up-to-date ICT infrastructure, and consistent system maintenance can further enhance employee productivity and organizational effectiveness. The findings provide valuable insights for management, policymakers, and researchers on leveraging ICT to improve performance in private sector organizations in Nigeria.
