DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A 2.0 KVA SMART SOLAR INVERTER
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project focuses on the design and construction of a 2.0 kVA smart inverter with an Android interface and load shedding capabilities. The increasing demand for renewable energy sources, particularly solar power, has led to the need for efficient power management and control systems. Traditional inverters have limitations in terms of monitoring and control functions, which can hinder optimal energy consumption. Therefore, the integration of smart inverters with advanced features has become crucial. The project aims to address the problem of inefficient power management and energy consumption by developing a smart inverter system that incorporates an Android interface and load shedding capabilities. The Android interface provides users with real-time monitoring and control of their solar energy installations, allowing them to make informed decisions about energy usage. Load shedding is implemented to prioritize critical loads and optimize energy distribution, preventing overloading of the system. The project involves a comprehensive literature review on power inverters, smart system applications in power management, and related works. The design methodology includes the principle of operation, analog-to-digital conversion for battery voltage measurement, transformer design, power supply unit, charger stage, and operating status display stage. The intelligent decision-making process is performed by an on-board microcontroller unit. The constructed 2.0kVA smart inverter system is tested to ensure it meets the objectives of efficient energy management and load shedding. The documentation of the design process and test results provides valuable information for future reference. By integrating smart features, such as the Android interface and load shedding capabilities, this project contributes to the advancement of sustainable energy usage and optimal power distribution inverter systems
