Abstract

In today’s increasingly security-conscious world, home surveillance systems have become crucial for ensuring personal and property safety. However, traditional surveillance solutions often lack real-time monitoring capabilities, which can limit their effectiveness in responding to potential threats. This project aims to address these limitations by designing and implementing an innovative home surveillance system that leverages the capabilities of the ESP32-CAM module, a low-cost and powerful embedded device designed for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The primary objective of this project is to develop a home surveillance system that enables image capturing based on motion detection and seamless integration with other smart home devices. The system will alert homeowners through a dedicated Telegram bot when an individual is detected in the surveillance area. By combining these features, homeowners can monitor their properties remotely and receive prompt notifications, allowing for timely responses to potential security concerns. The system architecture comprises the ESP32-CAM module, which serves as the core hardware component responsible for capturing images. The software implementation includes motion detection algorithms, a Telegram bot for notifications, and a user-friendly interface for monitoring and controlling the system. Through rigorous testing and evaluation, the developed system demonstrates its effectiveness in capturing images, providing timely alerts, and seamlessly integrating with existing smart home ecosystems for improved home security. This project not only contributes to advancing home security solutions but also showcases the versatility and potential of IoT technologies in developing cost-efficient surveillance systems accessible to a broad range of users.
