Abstract

ABSTRACT The issue of certificate forgery in Nigeria and all over the world is a call for experts to design a technology that can be used to verify the originality of a presented certificate by an individual in any organization without going through the stress of verifying the result. This presented certificate can be verified without going to the institution the candidate graduated from. We have seeing cases were the individual truly graduated from the institution in claim, but have not fulfilled the requirement necessary to be awarded the certificate. They may go to the computers centers, internet or professionals good in forgery to do the exact same certificate of the school carrying similar details to the original school certificate which may likely not be differentiated by an employer if he does not travel to the school. Sometimes, even when the certificate is taken to the school for verification, it may not be easily verified without having to pass through the process of searching files and checking records, which may consume time and energy. But with this system there will be no issue of such. The certificate can be authenticated and easily verified without stress using just a smart phone at the comfort of your office. This proposed system is more focused on verifying certificate to reduce the rate of forgery and stress of verifying certificate in Cross River University of Technology, Calabar and Nigeria institution at large can adopt the proposed system.
