This study invetigate the impact of rural-urban migration on the socio-economic development of Wukari Local Government Area, Taraba State. Three objectives and research questions were formed to guide the study. A descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The population of the study was made up of 106 employees in Natu Table Water Factory. The researcher employed purposive sampling technique of the non-probability method to draw the sample of the study, the sample size for the study is approximately (399) three hundred and ninety-nine residents of Wukari Local Government Area which was selected randomly at different time intervals. A self-structured questionnaire was administered. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the quantitative data and the generated data from the administered questionnaire was entered into the Statistical Package for social sciences (SPSS version 22) and analyzed using frequency counts and simple percentages, presented in tables. In testing the formulated hypotheses for this study both regression and correlation analysis was used. The study found that continuous migration from the rural to the urban area is due to socio¬economic characteristics of the out- migrants. This study has shown that rural-urban migration is a double-edge problem affecting the rural communities as well as the destination urban areas. The rural communities are being affected in such a way that youths and adults who were supposed to remain in the community and contribute their quota to the development of agriculture are no longer available. They have moved to urban areas in search of non- available greener pasture and abandon the farming activities which they believe cannot earn them what they will get in the urban areas. Subsequently this tends to reduce agricultural production and food availability in the country. In urban areas, increase in population of urban dwellers tend to lead to housing problems, prostitution, robbery, drug abuse and other social problems which can make life difficult for the urban inhabitants. The study suggests the government should improve development in the areas of basic amenities in rural communities, set up vocational centres in which youths will acquire skills and establish of agro based industries to control rural- urban migration to its barest minimum.
