Abstract

A map is a symbolic depiction emphasizing relationships between elements of some space, such as objects, regions, or themes. Many maps are static, fixed to paper or some other durable medium, while others are dynamic or interactive. The current system used in Kogi State polytechnic to locate and identify places within the school is the traditional method of using signposts at junctions and in front of each building within the school. The traditional system requires considerable manpower and is usually in an environment of fluctuating workloads, thus affecting time schedules, sheet quality, and certainly the overall economics of mapping. Therefore, a more flexible system for collecting, storing, retrieving and presenting map graphics was needed to improve the easy locating and finding of places. The aim of this project is to develop an automated mapping system. The specific objectives are; To show the location of a place and the distribution of variables with distribution of people; To eliminate the inefficiency of the traditional system. The proposed system was designed using Django a python framework along with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
