Abstract

Abstract This study looks at how Contemporary Black Diasporic Identity is shown in The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears by Dinaw Mengestu and The Bad Immigrant by Sefi Atta. It is based on the idea of transnational literature, which includes stories that cross national borders and reflect global experiences. In recent years, globalization and the end of colonial rule have brought more attention to literature from places that were once overlooked. This research looks closely at how the two novels show the challenges of living between cultures, focusing on topics like migration, feeling out of place, mixed cultural identity, and the emotional struggles that come with them. While past studies have mainly looked at global themes in these books, this one focuses on how the characters’ personal and cultural identities are affected by social and political issues. Using a detailed, text-based approach, the study shows how Mengestu and Atta explore the Black diaspora through characters shaped by history, culture, and geography. In the end, this work offers a new way of looking at these novels and helps deepen our understanding of Black identity in today’s global world.
