EFFECT OF INTERNET ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF RAMAT POLYTECHNIC, STUDENTS
Abstract
This research was primarily aimed at providing information and knowledge of the effect of internet on the academic performance of office technology and management student, the study was conducted in Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri. To do this, 60 students were sampled from the departments to respond to a questionnaire designed for that purpose. Questionnaires were presented by the researcher and the respondents asked to rate their level of agreement with the statements with regard to its influence on academic performance. The study reveals that internet has great influence on the academic performance of students in Ramat polytechnic. Even though majority of the student admitted the internet help those in academic learning, some students are facing difficulty finding resources relevant to their studies and majority of the student uses Smartphone to search for resources on the internet. Therefore, Training on internet search skill should be given to students to enable them locate materials with ease will enhance access to information needed by the students which in turn would have positive effect on their academic performance.
