INFLUENCE OF CARBON BLACK ON MECHANICAL PROPERTY OF PILIOSTIGMA THONNINGII FIBER REINFORCED HIGH DENSITY POLETHENE POLYMER COMPOSITE
Abstract
The composite materials were prepared by blending thonningii fibres and carbon black with HDPE in varying proportions. The properties of the developed composites were systematically analyzed using a series of tests to evaluate their mechanical and structural integrity. Tests conducted included Fourier The results revealed that the inclusion of piliostigma thonningii fibre and carbon black significantly improved the mechanical properties of HDPE, with optimized formulations showing enhanced flexural strength, hardness, and compressive resistance. FTIR analysis confirmed the presence of strong interfacial bonding between the constituents, which contributed to the improved performance. This study demonstrated the feasibility of utilizing natural fibres and carbon black as reinforcing agents in HDPE composites, providing a sustainable solution for lightweight, durable, and high-performance materials in engineering and industrial applications.
