Abstract

ABSTRACT This project addresses the limitations of traditional security methods in residential estates by developing an integrated access control system. The system aims to enhance security, improve operational efficiency, and provide a user-friendly platform for managing access. It leverages Near-Field Communication (NFC) for resident access, keypads for visitor access, and a mobile application for centralized management, thereby overcoming the shortcomings of conventional security approaches. The system's architecture comprises an ESP8266 microcontroller, an RC522 RFID reader, keypads, and a Spring Boot backend with a PostgreSQL database for robust data management. A React Native mobile application allows residents to generate temporary access codes for visitors and manage their access credentials seamlessly, facilitating a comprehensive and interconnected security solution. Evaluation of the system encompassed functional, security, performance, and usability testing. These assessments demonstrated the system's effectiveness in providing secure and convenient access control, validating its core functionalities and robustness against various threats and operational demands. The findings indicate that this integrated access control system significantly improves residential security and operational efficiency. It offers a scalable and adaptable model not only for other residential estates but also for broader commercial applications, paving the way for enhanced security paradigms in diverse environments.
