Abstract

Electronic voting (e-voting) systems have emerged as modern solutions to the inefficiencies and irregularities associated with traditional voting systems. In Nigeria, manual voting processes have been criticized for issues such as vote manipulation, delays, and lack of transparency. E-voting systems provide a technological alternative that enhances speed, accuracy, and accessibility in electoral processes. Studies show that electronic voting can significantly improve election credibility and efficiency when properly implemented. This project focuses on the design and implementation of a campus e-voting system for the Federal College of Education, Yola. The system aims to digitize student electoral processes, ensuring secure vote casting, accurate vote counting, and real-time result generation. The adoption of such systems in academic institutions aligns with global trends in digital transformation and e-governance. The proposed system integrates modern technologies such as database management systems, secure authentication mechanisms, and user-friendly interfaces. It addresses key challenges such as voter authentication, vote confidentiality, and prevention of multiple voting. Additionally, it ensures transparency and accountability throughout the voting process. In conclusion, the implementation of a campus e-voting system will enhance democratic participation among students, reduce electoral malpractices, and provide a reliable platform for conducting elections efficiently. This project contributes to the advancement of digital electoral systems within Nigerian educational institutions.
