COMPARISON BETWEEN THE PHYTOCHEMICALS COMPOSITION OF ROOT AND LEAVES OF GUIERA SENEGALENAIS (SABARA)
Abstract
This study examines the impact of public expenditure on poverty reduction in Nigeria, focusing on how government spending in key sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, and social welfare influences the living standards of citizens. Using secondary data from government reports, budgetary allocations, and statistical agencies, the research employs econometric analysis to evaluate the relationship between public expenditure and poverty indices over time. Findings reveal that increased spending in social sectors contributes positively to poverty alleviation, though the effectiveness is often undermined by corruption, mismanagement, and weak policy implementation. The study underscores that while public expenditure has the potential to reduce poverty, its success depends on transparency, accountability, and efficient resource allocation. It concludes that strengthening governance structures, prioritizing pro-poor programs, and enhancing monitoring mechanisms are essential for ensuring that public expenditure translates into tangible improvements in citizens’ welfare.
