Abstract

This study focuses on the estimation of multiple linear regression parameters using matrix approach. Data was obtained from 300 students at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti using interview and experimentation methods of data collection. Information on Age, Weight and Height of 300 students from seven departments was obtained. The matrix formulation simplifies the computation and interpretation of the results. The mean weight of 300 students across seven departments is 67kg. The mean age of 300 students across seven departments is 28 years while the mean height of 300 students across seven departments is 5.4 inch. Finally, the overall regression line is significant at 5% level. 12% variation in the ‘Weight’ is explained or accounted for by the independent variables (Age and Height) using Adjusted R2 value from multiple linear regression.
