A DECENTRALIZED STUDENTS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Abstract
This project titled A DECENTRALIZED STUDENTS DATABASE
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM was carried out by a group of 11
students in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science,
Benson Idahosa University, Edo State.
In the digital era, effective management of academic records is
critical to ensuring the integrity, security, and ac cessibility of
student data. This project presents the design and implementation of
a Decentralized Database Management System (DDBMS) tailored
for Benson Idahosa University‘s Students‘ Records Management
System. The proposed system leverages decentralized database
architecture to eliminate single points of failure, improve data
availability, and enhance system scalability. By distributing data
storage across multiple nodes, the system ensures that student
records including personal details, academic transc ripts, course
registrations, and grading history are securely and reliably
managed. Unlike traditional centralized systems, the decentralized
approach mitigates risks associated with data breaches,
unauthorized access, and institutional data silos. The Methodology
used in this project is Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Model
(OOADM) and Interactive Waterfall Model (IWF). The system
incorporates robust authentication, data encryption, and real-time
synchronization mechanisms to maintain data consistency across
nodes.
Full-Text Access Notice
In accordance with the NERD Policy on promoting peer-reviewed publication, public access to the full text of a project, thesis or dissertation is restricted for three years, allowing the author and supervisors sufficient time to pursue peer-reviewed publication.
During this period, researchers with legitimate academic or research purposes may request authorisation directly from the author to enable NERD to release the indexed full texts of the work using the form below.
